Katie graduated with distinction from the University of Kansas in 2002. She obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from the KU School of Law in 2005. She focuses her practice on complex divorce and child custody matters, as well as drafting and litigating premarital and postnuptial agreements. Katie also represents clients in business disputes. She serves on the Johnson County Family Law Bench-Bar Committee, a committee of lawyers, judges and mental health professionals who have a strong interest in family law. She is the current President of the Johnson County Bar Association and Chair of the Civics Outreach Committee. She is a Barrister in the Johnson County Family Law American Inn of Court. Katie frequently serves as Guardian ad litem in family court proceedings, has been appointed Special Master regarding discovery issues, and has presented continuing legal education seminars on several topics, including jurisdiction, discovery and domestic violence. Katie co-authored the 2016 Supplement on Property Division and Maintenance in the Kansas Bar Association’s Practitioner’s Guide to Kansas Family Law, as well as the Family Law chapter of the 2016 Kansas Annual Survey of the Law. She is a member of the Kansas Bar Association and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. Katie is licensed to practice in Kansas and Missouri.
